DIY of ray tracing simulator


Controlling transparency of film electrically is very fascinating technology. In this project, I was trying to find out the method convert mechanical force into optical transmissivity. The application for this technology was to invent energy saving film which can block infrared light whose reflectivity is electrically or mechanically controlled.

Ray tracing for energy saving film

The motivation of this project is to investigate the optical properties when polymer and particle composite is deformed or compressed. To estimate the relation between particle density or shape and transmissivity, I have created the 1D ray tracer which solves the geometrical problem based on Snell’s Law.
